29th MOMUSA Annual Summer Games
DAY 1 – Orientation and Welcome Dinner
Wednesday, July 8
The Summer Ministry Games officially began with a Welcome Dinner held at the Highpoint Church in San Diego, California. Although not all of the participating teams had arrived, those who attended enjoyed a wonderful evening of fellowship, meeting one another, and sharing a meal together. It was a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, welcome new participants, and set the tone for the days ahead centered on Christian fellowship, unity, and sportsmanship.
DAY 2 – Opening Ceremony and First Day of Competition
Thursday, July 10
The day began at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast, followed by a morning praise and worship service at Highpoint Church. Pastor Lawrence delivered a powerful message based on this year’s theme, “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made,” reminding everyone that every person is uniquely created by God with purpose and value.
Following the worship service, everyone transitioned to the Miramar College Gymnasium for the official Opening Ceremony, which began at 9:00 a.m.
Mr. Surleigh Tara welcomed everyone and provided a brief introduction to the SMG2k26 event. Pastor Sato Suka then delivered the opening remarks and led the gathering in prayer. Jacob Sarmiento from Arizona presented the American National Anthem, followed by the introduction of our distinguished and honorary guests.
Isobel Kinsang then welcomed and introduced the participating teams.

Following the team introductions, Jannette Roby reviewed the tournament rules and guidelines before officially beginning the competition. Throughout the day, athletes demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit as the first round of games got underway.
DAY 3 – Bracket Play and Evening Worship
Friday
Competition intensified on Friday as tournament brackets were determined based on Thursday’s placement games. Teams competed throughout the day, while referees and tournament officials updated the brackets as each round concluded.
The day’s activities concluded with another inspiring evening worship service at Highpoint Church. Mr. Jeremiah Philik delivered a heartfelt message centered on God’s amazing love demonstrated through the Cross of Calvary. He reminded everyone that salvation is not earned through our achievements or human effort, but is entirely the result of God’s amazing grace.
The message focused on Romans 5:8:
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The message served as a powerful reminder that while the Summer Ministry Games celebrate athletic competition, their greatest purpose is to proclaim the love of Christ and encourage lives to be transformed by the Gospel.
